As I finished nursing my 11 month old back to sleep and silently slipped out of our bed, my 32 month old woke up just in time to catch me leaving the room. "Mommy, you lay down with me" he sweetly asked. At this age of new-found independence, I am more than happy for any opportunity he gives me to snuggle with him. Wrapping my arms tightly around his little body, he draped his legs over mine and drifted back to sleep. I stayed there for awhile just running my fingers through his hair until he rolled on his side - his little spine facing me and his nose pressed into his sister's dark hair. I gently rubbed his back as I thought about how long I had waited for moments like this.
